UMCTC LogoWelcome to the Twin Cities! Our club is the Metro's home for the Maize & Blue! The University of Michigan Club of the Twin Cities is a regional alumni club affiliated with the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan. Members of the Alumni Association are automatically members of the University of Michigan Club of the Twin Cities. There are no additional dues to pay.

We welcome all friends of the Wolverines! This web site will be used to keep you informed of events and activities related to the club. Keep checking frequently for the latest! We try to reach out to all alumni as they move to the area, but the most reliable way to get club info is to join our email list. We don't fill your box! We send out just a few messages each month. Our activities include sports, arts, literature, and the Alumni Student Recruitment program and that's just the tip of the iceberg! We are also involved in social, service and scholarship activities.

We do encourage all our members to join the Alumni Association. For every dues paying member in our area, the club receives funding from AAUM. Most of this eventually makes in into our scholarship fund one way or another, so your dues are also an indirect donation! For more information on the benefits of AAUM membership, visit http://alumni.umich.edu/membership/.

In my hometown I’m the girl that’s constantly wearing a block M. There is one on my Greek Life shirt. It is the shirt I wore to the University Golf Course last February as some of my sorority sisters and I participated in the Polar Plunge, a philanthropy event organized by a friend’s fraternity. By taking the dive we helped raise over 14,000$ for the Special Olympics and I got to experience one of the most exhilarating moments of my life.

I have had many unique experiences after two years at the University of Michigan and am a proud part of this revered legacy. I sing in and am the business manager of the Michigan Men’s Glee Club. This past spring I helped coordinate our 150th anniversary celebration, which was equally as time consuming (and exciting) as sharing a house with five of my best friends from the glee club. For this grandiose weekend of tradition and camaraderie over 450 alumni were gathered, some graduated as early as the 1940s. Many of my favorite moments came when I was able to talk with these alumni. I was touched by their poignant stories and surprised at how similar their college days were to mine. I most distinctly remember one gentleman, probably in his seventies, although unwilling to give me his exact graduation year. He told me about his degree in Medieval History and that he had had no idea what he wanted to do with it. He explained that it took him twelve more years to realize that he actually wanted to be a doctor, a career he has had for many years and never once regretted. This was exactly what I needed to hear at the time. I had just chosen my major but was having many doubts of whether it was the fitting choice. The alumnus taught me with his story from fifty years ago, that what I decide in college is not final and I can explore until I find what really makes me fervent.
